Situated on the atlantic coast, in the South West part of France, the "Bordeaux" wineyard is the most important wine region of France. 6 million hectolitre a produced per year, on more then 100.000 hectares winestocks, divided on about fifty "Appellations d’origine contrôlée" (AOC). This quality control system gives the garantie of the origin of the wine and the respect of the traditional producing rules.
The limites of the Bordeaux wineyard are the same of the department of Gironde.There are different viticultural sectors, and one of them is called the "Libournais".
